DEALING WITH THE PLUMBING
We had the water, sewer and gas connected on Wednesday, 06
June and, for the most part, it was a success.
The only problems stemmed from the “new” plumbing in the kitchen which
also fed the “new” plumbing in the laundry room. I found out quickly that the drains where
being sealed together with a combination of Silly Putty and electrical tape. In addition, the supply lines to the washer
had been cut and there were no shutoffs anywhere beyond the meter. I shut everything down and ripped out all of
the plumbing to the back half off the house.
Since I had everything turned off I decided to remove the cabinets and
counters in the kitchen (there were no appliances left in the house after we
bought it). I then ran new plumbing to
the kitchen and eventual laundry closet and decided to install the new laundry
tub temporarily at the kitchen sink location just so I would have somewhere to
clean tools over the next 2 weeks;
Being that I am the only person on the job, this day took a
lot longer than I expected! The kitchen
will sit this way for a couple of weeks however I’ll show some progress on the
laundry room in a few days.
Did you find anything else wrong with the plumbing, drains, etc??
ReplyDeleteNothing major. The sink in the bathroom doesn't drain but there is no sense working on it because I'm going to gut the bathroom next week. The shower drain has a constant leak but, since they don't have basements in Nashville, it just runs onto the rock in the crawl space below.
